Higashiyama Onsen

Higashiyama Onsen in Aizu is said to have been discovered by the famous priest Gyoki about 1,300 years ago. It is one of the three most important hot spring towns in the Ou region. It is conveniently located only 10 minutes by car from Aizu Wakamatsu city center with a population of 120,000 people. No other hot springs area boasts such a combination of history with rich and beautiful nature. It is an onsen town loved by painters and writers such as Takehisa Yumeji and Yosano Akiko.
