Appi Kogen Ski Resort

Boasting the largest area in the Tohoku region, the slopes of Appi Kogen also have direct access to facilities including hotels and an onsen. It is said to be the most representative of the ski resorts in Tohoku. The resort is equipped with 10 lifts, 21 courses and slopes which have a good balance for everyone from beginners to advanced skiers. Of course, there are uncompacted and compacted snow areas, tree runs and moguls among other facilities. There are also plenty of activities including areas for snow tubing and sledding, and you can also wear snowshoes to freely walk on the snow as well as go on a trekking tour. You can tackle the snowy areas of Tohoku on a grand scale on a snow coach heading to Hachimantai, a skiing tour through an area of fresh natural snow, and a nature tour by buggy. Another thing to enjoy at Appi Kogen Ski Area is the onsen. This facility in the middle of Shirakababayashi is comfortable for its large size, and can be used for day trips without needing to stay overnight. There are also 8 hotels directly connected to the slopes so you can leisurely enjoy winter sports to your heart’s content.
