Dewasanzan Shrines

Dewasanzan refers to the three sacred mountains of Mt. Haguro, Mt. Gassan, and Mt. Yudono. There is a saying that by visiting these mountains, people will be born again. Since Mt. Gassan and Mt. Yudono are not accessible to prayers during winter, the gods of the three sacred mountains are worshipped on Mt. Haguro. This vast mountainous area contains also a small shrine called Hyakuhachimassha where a great number of gods are worshipped. Come to these mountains to become unified with nature, absorb its energy, and experience the Yamabushi spiritual culture from ancient times in Japan.
